TECHNOLOGY IN PERFECTION.
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is powered by an optimized AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine. The powerful high-revving naturally aspirated engine with dry-sump lubrication is as user-friendly as it is reliable. The sequential six-speed competition gearbox, mounted at the rear axle, has also been developed further. It is connected with the engine by means of a carbon torque tube, a guarantee for a torsion- and torque-stiff power distribution. A multi-disc locking differential, combined with the adjustable traction control, ensures that the engine power is transferred to the circuit in the best possible way. Gearchange is activated by the driver by means of two ergonomic shift paddles mounted to the steering wheel and operates with a pneumatic actuation. Its particular driving experience is one of the characteristics of the Mercedes-AMG GT3: it allows drivers of all skill levels to build up confidence in the car very quickly. The main reasons for this are the extraordinarily precise dynamics, achieved by a low center of gravity, efficient aerodynamics and the multi-adjustable suspension.
Ergonomics and functionality dominate the interior of the Mercedes-AMG GT3. In order to ensure a clear overview and good accessibility, every little detail has been implemented that could bring an advantage in the race: from the fluorescent markings on the controls for better operation at night up to the center console that is tilted towards the driver. Next to the effective ventilation of the interior, a factor that is important to ease the stress on the driver, air conditioning is available as an option, which can be an invaluable asset, especially for endurance races.
Just like its predecessor, the SLS AMG GT3, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 has the widest-ranging safety concept of its era and its class. No less than three safety areas were constructed around the driver. The innovative seat shell is playing a major role. Its special carbon structure and the individual adjustment allows for a significantly higher protection level than usual race seats. The roll cage of high-strength steel and the aluminum spaceframe round out the clever concept. The roof of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 incorporates an escape hatch, which allows for a stable and rapid recovery extrication of the driver in case of an accident.
